Week 4: Janalogue
January 24, 2026
- I hate the phrase, but I 'vibe coded' a website. THere was something I wanted to make and Wordpress was terrible. Trying to get it to do what I wanted was a nightmare, and so I downloaded Claude and gave it a go. Having spent about 2 days wrestling with WP, Claude gave me what I wanted in about an hour. I couldn't believe how easy it was. So impressed. It's got my brain whirring away now thinking of what other things I might need.
- I heard the phrase ‘Janalogue’ the other day. When people are trying to get off their smart phones for the month. It reminded me of when I used to use a dumb phone every January to have a bit of a reset, but had to stop in the end because I needed Whatsapp for the dog-sitter. Such a shame. I think I benefitted from it enormously.
- I happened to catch Ski Sunday the other day, and the theme tune took me straight back to my childhood watching it on a Sunday night. It's amazing how some TV themes can do that. Something different these days though is the drone shots. I normally eye-roll at the overuse of drones in TV, but on this occasion it was pretty cool; following the downhill skiers down the slopes at the speed they're going.
- One of the young'uns at work was asking if anyone has seen Ferris Bueller! Apparently it's a great film they've discovered. “The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, dickheads - they all adore him. They think he's a righteous dude.”
