Week 6: Imbolc
February 8th, 2026
- This week we passed Imbolc (Candlemas) which means we're halfway through winter. Although it's been wet for a couple of weeks there have been some really nice days, and it's really not cold at all. It feels quite spring-like some days.
- Caught another horrific cold. My second in a month. To be honest it's really got me down. I had to take half the week off work. I normally catch one a year at most, so this is unusual for me. I'm feeling the need to get cracking with my bike training, but I'm kind of in a holding pattern for the last 6-8 weeks. I really hope I feel my normal self again soon.
- I couldn't get through the book for bookclub last month, which was weird as it was by Mick Herron, of Slow Horses fame, so should've been easy. It might not have helped that the audiobook narration was really dreadful. Annoying when that happens. The next one is a Robert Harris, who I've not read before, so I was looking forward to that one, but it's set in the time of Charles I, which might be a chore.
- This game was fantastic, but nearly broke me. I'd love it if he made another one this year. Took me three days to finish.

- Quote of the week: From an article about the death of 'craft beer' there was an amusing reference to old timey beers called things like - "Old Shartwangler's Puce"
