Week 7: The Boot
February 15th, 2026
- Still not right after this last cold. The heart is willing but the lungs are a problem. Maybe it'll take some time, but it's still very frustrating. I'm considering getting on the turbo to loosen things up and get the blood flowing a bit.
- Two guys in one of my teams at work are having babies. The due dates are one day apart in August. It's great news for all and the team are so happy, but it's going to cause chaos later in the year!
- Up to Mum's for the weekend. Nice to be back up here, but she really does just sit and watch TV all day. I have to find excuses to go out for a bit.
- Did parkrun up at Mum's. Skipped Delamere this time and chose one in Wales. There was snow up on the hills, but thankfully we stayed down low. It was very muddy and icy, but I struggled a lot with the remains of the colds I've had recently. My chest was quite bad and I couldn't run in places while i was hacking up. Very frustrating. Terrible cold for the rest of the day.
- Saw an enormous great dane in Chester. People were stopping to say hello.
- Had a pint in the The Boot. It's a 'digital device free' pub, and so everyone in there was either just talking to each other, or quietly contemplating life. With the low timbered ceilings and darkly lit by yellow lamps, if it wasn't for the clothes people were wearing, it could've been 1750.
